I didn’t know what to think when I saw the trailer. I wasn’t enthused, honestly. I figured - some foreign attempt at horror (I know, how mature of me - lest I forget the experience that was The Human Centipede) - it wasn’t going to be scary. Gory perhaps, but not scary.

I”m here to tell you that I was wrong. It’s a fairly tranquil scene throughout the film. Plot components exist that you don’t expect - they are subtle and unnerving once you realize their totality.

There was at least one part that made me incredibly uncomfortable, but I won’t spoil it for anyone. I’m torn in my personal opinion on whether that depiction was something I enjoyed as part of the film or deplored outright. Perhaps that is the mark of an effective film; conveying an experience that you would detest. This is, after all, a horror film.

You won’t be disappointed when you see it. 4/5
